Take a look at this awesome Ted Talk about how public schools may be influencing student's creativity. At FJDS we encourage self expression through various developmentally appropriate activities and encourage our students to explore and experiment in their environment.

Our Curriculum

Our play with a purpose curriculum fosters physical, cognitive, and social emotional development and learning in an age appropriate program. We facilitate a child driven curriculum in which the children's interests are at the heart of every learning experience. We recognize that children learn through interactions and are given various different experiences through out the day to explore, discover, and research.

Our program is aligned with the California Preschool Learning Foundations and we also use the DRDP (Desired Results Developmental Profile). This developmental assessment is also aligned with the California Preschool Learning Foundations.

RELIGIOUS VALUES

As a Jewish school, we offer children an integrated approach to religious and secular learning. Our program emphasizes positive values through daily experiences involving blessings, Shabbat, and the understanding of Jewish holidays and traditions. At the same time, we welcome children and families from all faiths and backgrounds to create our diverse school community and to share in our educational goals.

Our Philosophy

We understand the importance of the young child's first experience in a school setting and we are dedicated to making this experience a happy and meaningful time for each family. Our program supports our student's individual developmental needs while providing age-appropriate, child driven curriculum.  We respect each child's  unique ability to learn and grow at their own pace. We believe that play is the work of childhood. Children need to explore, question, practice and pretend in order to discover the world around them.

At Fresno Jewish Day School we learn to play, and play to learn!
